The facts of history and geography show that the Houthis failed to impose their control in all the regions of Yemen. They were seeking to create a reality against the aspirations of Yemenis, even if the price is Yemen and its people.
6 years after the Houthi coup, Yemenis still remember the ill-fated day when the terrorist militias invaded Sana’a to lead the country into the worst humanitarian catastrophe in history.
”The Nakba of Yemen”.. Which means in English: the calamity of Yemen. This is what the social media users called the 21st of September, describing the fall of the Yemeni state in the hands of the Houthis as Hell that engulfed all Yemenis.
That day chose for Yemen a path towards the abyss without putting too much efforts, through the landmines that the Houthis planted generously in all Yemen’s provinces.
The Houthis have proved for the 5th year in a row that they have a deadly project for Yemenis. This was asserted by the President of Abaad studies centre Abdessalam Mohammad by saying: “We were counting the victims of the Houthis, and now we are counting Yemenis after the Houthi crimes. These coup militias left no hope in the hearts of Yemenis as they continue to destroy land and humans alike”.
In their way to impose their control, the Houthi militias broke a record in planting the landmines. They became the most sophisticated terrorist group in the world in waging attacks by explosive devices. The data unveiled that thousands of Yemenis fell victims to this policy.
The data is a natural outcome of the Houthis’ cunning and malice. They camouflaged landmines deliberately to make them difficult to detect, in addition to planting them extensively.
With the fall of every Yemeni civilian dead or wounded due to this explosive epidemic, more efforts become needed to clear it from the Yemeni soil, especially that the announced numbers today are not accurate, because the real number of the landmines that are scattered in Yemen will be unveiled after the end of the clearing teams’ mission. The teams that are making huge efforts to rid Yemen of this ordeal.
Masam’s teams are the main actors in this efforts to get Yemen out of this swamp, that is why they are working very hard to dismantle the terrorists’ landmines and war remnants.
The leader of team 28 Masam, Engineer Fikri Hassan Qassem reiterated that his team was able to dismantle a landmine network on the sides of the major road that links Aden province to the strategic port of Mocha. The network represented a serious danger to the lives of passengers.
And in the same context, the team specialized in collecting shells carried out an operation to destroy and demolish 1144 landmines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance in Bab Al Mandab directorate in the western coast.
The operation included 226 anti-tank landmines, 309 unexploded shells, 272 fuses, 333 unexploded ordnance and 4 mined rockets. This operation is the 30th for this team, which brings the total of the demolition operations carried out by Masam in Yemen to 81.
Project Masam has always worked on demolishing the various cleared explosives, as a steady method to guarantee that they will never be used in the future.
Despite the risks that threaten project Masam’s staff, they become more determined to rid Yemen and its people of this evil. But these efforts are still awaiting for a strong position from the international community in order to push this danger away from Yemen.
