Project Masam’s Team 10 is continuing to clear a second anti-personnel minefield in the Jandalah area of Osilan district in Yemen’s Shabwah governorate.

In two months of continuous work, the team was able to secure 20% of the field’s 120,000 sqm.

Team 10’s team leader confirmed that the demining team succeeded in clearing and destroying a number of internationally banned anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and that the team will continue its work to secure the entire area from the anti-personnel mines.

“This ongoing work aims to restore safety and calm in the area and protect the lives of civilians,” the leader of the team said.

Given the danger of operating in anti-personnel minefields, Team 10’s deminers must exercise extreme caution and high precision to avoid any accidents.

Shabwah Governorate is one of Yemen’s most landmine-affected regions, with many anti-personnel minefields that continue to pose a constant threat to the safety of the local population.
