Project Masam clears 5,398 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 5,398 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in December 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 3,174 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, seven anti-tank mines, and 3,164 UXO during the period.

This brings the total number of items removed between 1 December and 27 November to 5,398.

According to the statement, the demining teams removed 12 anti-personnel mines, 161 anti-tank mines, 5,206 UXO and 19 IEDs in December.

The project’s demining teams cleared 301,645 square metres of Yemeni land last week.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 63,378,671 square metres of Yemeni land.
