Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 1,390 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in August 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 720 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, 56 anti-tank mines, 647 UXO and 14 IEDs, bringing the total number of explosive items removed in August to 1,390.
Between 1 to 9 August, demining teams removed 1,217 UXOs and 130 anti-tank mines.
The project’s demining teams cleared 200,107 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 58,654,867 square metres of Yemeni land.
