Project Masam clears 4,578 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 4,578 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in September 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,338 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, 35 anti-tank mines, and 1,300 UXO during the period. This brings the total number of items removed between 1 September 1 and 20 September to 4,578.
The project teams specifically removed 21 anti-personnel landmines, 104 anti-tank mines, 4,441 and 12 IEDs during the same period.

The project’s demining teams cleared 292,892 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 833,174.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 60,034,518 square metres of Yemeni land.
