Project Masam clears 3,112 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 3,112 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in May 2025.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 1,273 landmines and UXO last week, including 34 anti-tank mines, and 1,239 UXO during the period.

This brings the total number of items removed between 1 May and 9 May to 3,112.

The project’s demining teams cleared 209,042 square metres of Yemeni land last week; clearing a total of 355,138 square metres so far in May.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 66,860,348 square metres of Yemeni land.
