Masam Team 26 defuses a rockmine near houses in Yemen’s Hays

Project Masam’s Team 26 has announced that it has defused an explosive device in the vicinity of civilian homes in Wadi Al-Akbar, Al-Khawkhah district in Al-Hodeidah governorate.

In a statement, the leader of Team 26 said that the improvised explosive device (IED), which had been manufactured by the Houthis, posed a threat to the lives of civilians living in those areas.

He explained that the explosive device was camouflaged in the form of a rock and was controlled remotely.

The leader of Team 26 confirmed that the IED was handled and defused in accordance with internal standards, and that the device was transported to a site designated for its destruction.

The team leader indicated that Wadi Al-Akbar area is still heavily affected by the presence of mines and IEDs which were randomly planted in farms and homes by the Houthi militia.

The team leader praised the efforts exerted by Project Masam deminers to secure the area. Three teams are currently deployed in Wadi Al-Akbar with the aim of clearing it from landmines and IEDs.
