Project Masam removes 2,935 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,935 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in August 2023.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that last week the teams managed to remove two anti-personnel mines, 113 anti-tank mines, 738 UXO and 14 IEDs, bringing the total cleared so far in August to four anti-personnel mines, 348 anti-tank mines, 2,554 UXO and 29 IEDs.

The project’s demining teams cleared 148,315 square metres of Yemeni territory last week, bringing the total land cleared this month to 653,840.

Since the launch of the project in mid-June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 48,887,206 square metrEs of Yemeni land.
