Project Masam carried out an operation to destroy 23 landmines in the region of Dhabab, Al Mocha directorate in the western coast.
The destruction operation carried out by team 30 (specialized in shells collection) was achieved by incineration; a modern and eco-friendly method, as it prevents noises and never affects residential areas that are near the place of the operation.
Project Masam’s foreign experts supervised the destruction operation in the presence of the Director of the Executive Mine Action Center in Aden province.
This operation is the 2nd that the project carried out during July. And according to the Operations Manager of project Masam Mr Retief Horn, this operation is a modern eco-friendly technique, by which landmines are destroyed in very special conditions, as it is used when necessary to destroy explosive bodies in civilian areas, and it is used also to destroy highly sensitive objects which are hard to move and have to be destroyed where they are found.
Project Masam works on clearing and destroying landmines by many methods, most importantly by detonation and incineration, as the project’s teams carry out the destruction operations continuously under the supervision of Masam’s foreign experts, in a systematic way that Masam keeps following to guarantee that these landmines will never be used again by any party, to threaten civilian lives.
