Project Masam’s operations room announced that the project’s teams cleared during the third week of June 1112 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices, thus bringing the total of what was cleared since the 30th of May up to the 18th of June to 3243.
Project Masam’s Operations Manager Mr Retief Horn said that the engineering teams cleared during the third week of this month 772 unexploded ordnance and 14 explosive devices.
Mr Retief added that the teams cleared also during last week 321 anti-tank mines and 5 anti-personnel mines.
For his part, project Masam’s Managing Director Mr Ousama Algosaibi said in a statement published by Masam’s media office that the total of what was cleared since the launch of the project until the 18th of June reached 170546 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices.
Mr Algosaibi added in his statement that the teams were able during the past week to clear 301853 square meters of lands, which bring the total size of lands that were cleared since the launch of the project to 10.950.132 square meters of Yemeni lands.
During last week, team 30 Masam (specialized in collecting shells) led 2 operations to destroy and detonate 1013 mines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices.
In this context, the international expert in mine clearance Dr Zauba Alrawi said that team 30 Masam, by using the most advanced technologies, destroyed successfully 340 anti-armor mines, one anti-personnel mine, 664 unexploded ordnance and 8 explosive devices, by using the most advance technologies.
