In a social initiative that is the first of its kind to help project Masam in its efforts of ridding Yemen from the mines, the tribal leader Ali Bin Saif Aqar handed over a number of mines that he has stocked for more than 50 Years.
In an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office, Sheikh Ali Bin Saif Aqar reiterated that the mines which were handed today to project Masam’s experts have been stocked in his home for more than 50 years, since the era of the so called “front wars” in Yemen.
The tribal leader noted that his reason for keeping the mines until today was the lack of engineering teams specialized in clearing and destroying mines in Marib governorate during all the past decades.
Sheikh Ali Bin Saif said that the reason of handing the mines over to project Masam was to destroy them so no party can use them, and not to become a source of threat against civilians.
Sheikh Ali Bin Said called on all the citizens not to stock mines, and to hand them over to project Masam because they are a danger that threatens their lives.
For his part, project Masam’s Operations Manager Mr Retief Horn welcomed the initiative of the tribal leader Ali Bin Saif, confirming that his initiative is a great humanitarian gesture that he should be thanked for, and that it demonstrates his high morals and ethics.
Team 1 Masam under the direct supervision of Masam’s international experts transported the mines from the tribal leader’s home, and moved them to places dedicated to destruction and detonation operations.
