Hussein Saleh Mubarak, a resident of Usaylan district, said that their district suffered a lot because of the extensive and indiscriminate planting of landmines, that have killed men, animals and plantations.
Mubarak told Project Masam that his residents in his district did feel safe until Project Masam’s demining teams were dispatched to the area to remove landmines from roads, farms, homes, water supply areas and schools.
The local villager claimed that the arrival of Masam to his region, and their efforts, allowed people to return safely to their homes and farms and carry out their lives normally without fear of being killed by landmines.
Mubarak also extended his thanks for Project Masam, which enabled the residents of his area to safely restore the water wells used for drinking and agriculture, after removing mines from and around them and clearing them completely.
The resident said the reopening of schools and the return to students has been crucial in Usaylan, thanks to Masam’s efforts to prioritise educational institutions.
