The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen, who supervises the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, said that Saudi Arabia continues to support their “Yemeni brothers” across a number of areas including politico-economic, relief, and development fields, under the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Highness the Crown Prince Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
In a televised statement, Ambassador Muhammad bin Saeed Al Jaber, confirmed that the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) agreed with the Yemeni government to operate Aden Hospital for another three years after being rehabilitated and equipped, indicating that there are 229 projects for the programme in Yemen.
These include Aden International Airport, which was cleared by Masam demining teams to allow reconstruction. The first and second phases of the airport clearance have been completed, with the foundation works of the third phase beginning soon.
Ambassador Al Jaber highlighted the role of Project Masam in clearing Yemeni lands from landmines and keeping danger away from civilians, non-civilians, roads and other essential facilities.
Project Masam currently has 32 local demining teams – some 450 trained local deminers – working in liberated areas across the country and conducts humanitarian clearance in accordance with priorities set by the Yemeni National Authority.
This, Al Jaber added, helps in creating a complete “Ecosystem” between relief and development work, as well as demining, in addition to the political and and economic support for the Central Bank and the Yemeni government.
The Ambassador to Yemen stated that SDRPY aims to create job opportunities for Yemenis, whether through planning, design and implementation in terms of contracting as well as operation, asserting that Yemenis have high competencies and expertise, and the company contracting with the program has set high-quality standards to attract these competencies.
