President of the Republic of Yemen and Saudi Ambassador visit Masam and hear about efforts to combat mines

His Excellency Rashad al-Alimi of the Republic of Yemen and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, visited Project Masam’s headquarters in a show of force in the interim capital Aden.

President Al-Alimi, the head of Yemen‘s Presidential Leadership Council, expressed his thanks and gratitude for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in combating mines, clearing Yemeni lands and saving the lives of civilians, praising the efforts of Project Masam in normalising life in many Yemeni regions.
The President and the diplomat were received by the Director of the Yemen Executive Mine Action Centre (Yemac), Brigadier General Ameen Al-Aqili, and a number of the project experts.
During the high-level meeting, Al-Aqili, and the Director of Masam Operations in Aden Expert Zawbaa Al-Rawi gave a detailed presentation to President Al-Alimi and Ambassador Al Jaber about the disaster of landmines planted by the Houthi militia and the efforts made to remove them.
The guests also visited a photo exhibition, which included portraits of civilian survivors of landmines, as well as photos of different types of mines and explosive devices discovered by Masam’s teams in Yemen, as well as the maps of the areas that have so far been cleared of mines by Masam deminers.
