Child killed in landmine accident in Yemen’s Al-Bayda Governorate

A child has been killed in a landmine accident in Yemen’s centre, sources claim.

Local sources said that a child, identified as Ahmed Abdu-lsalam Al-Sahraa,13, was killed when he stepped on a Houthi landmines on Monday as he was passing by a side road in the village of Al-Hamraa in the Al-Sawma’ah district in Al-Bayda Governorate.

Al-Bayda is one of Yemen’s heavily landmine-contaminated regions. Landmines have tragically claimed the limbs and lives of thousands in the area, according to local human rights organisations.
