Three civilians, including a child, were killed on the first day of Eid al-Fitr, when a landmine planted by the Houthi militia exploded in the south of Al-Hodeidah Governorate in the west of Yemen.

A human rights source said that three people, including a child, were killed by a mine planted on a side road in the east of Al-Karama village in Al-Jah area, west of Bayt Al-Faqih district.

The source explained that the victims were riding a motorcycle on their way to go shopping in Husseiniya area when they triggered a landmine.

Al-Hodeidah has become one of the most landmine-contaminated Yemeni governorates, where landmines have killed and injured hundreds of civilians in recent years.

According to human rights organisations, Houthi mines have killed 134 civilians and injured 247 others in Hodeidah governorate over the past year.
