In a statement he made to the Yemeni TV channel Al-Shar’iya, the Managing Director of Masam project Mr Ousama Algosaibi shed the light on the Houthis’ crimes regarding the way they camouflage mines. Mr Algosaibi said: “The Houthis used diabolical methods in manufacturing, camouflaging and exploding the mines in order to harm as many Yemeni civlians as they can; they changed the anti-tank mines into anti-personnel mines which are prohibited in international law”.
Algosaibi considered Al Jawf and Taiz the most planted governorates with mines and which the teams of Masam reached, noting that we have information which suggests that the frontlines have more mines, but we don’t work in frontlines for the safety of our teams, as he put it.
Algosaibi considered that camouflaging the mines aims to create a bloodbath, as he indicated by saying: “The mines were planted in ways that aim to harm the people; there are mines in the houses, palm trunks, kids’ toys, gardens, farms, schools and infrastructure etc.. We found mines in populated areas. Their goal is to terrorize the citizens and harm as many of them as possible”.
