Project Masam clears 2,037 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,037 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in April 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 797 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including one anti-personnel min, 110 anti-tank mines, 681 UXO, and five IEDs, bringing the total of items cleared in April to 2,037.

The project’s demining teams cleared 228,407 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 341,500 square metres, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 55,732,382 square meters of Yemeni land.
