The leader of team 17 Masam Engineer Hassan Aljahouri confirmed that his team was able since it started its work in project Masam to secure and clear 21 mined schools and more than 150 farms in Al Mocha directorate in the western coast.
In an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office, Engineer Hassan Aljahouri said that the total number of fields and mined areas his team was able to clear reached 21 fields and mined areas. The team cleared more than 2000 landmines and explosive devices, in addition to thousands of shells and unexploded ordnance.
Aljahouri asserted that the mined regions his team worked to clear are all considered vital areas which vary between quarters, residential villages, learning centers, farms, water wells, major roads and sub-roads.
Engineer Aljahouri said that his team has been working during the last two years in Al Mocha directorate and its surroundings, and after finishing its mission successfully there, it moved in the beginning of the year to Muazza’ directorate, which is, according to him, different in landscape from Al Mocha, as it is mountainous, and work there is more difficult and complicated.
Aljahouri added that the field his team is working in nowadays is the number 1 field in the region of Alhajirah in Muazza’ directorate, and it is one of the dangerous fields for it is situated in the major crossroad that leads to all the villages in the region.
Aljahouri indicated that the region of Alhajirah has witnessed violent clashes for many months, and the Houthis planted landmines there extensively to hinder the advance of governmental forces towards the strategic Khaled camp.
The leader of team 17 Masam noted that his team was able to fully secure and clear this field which the size exceeds 37 thousand square meters, and the team was able to clear over 40 thousand anti-vehicle landmines, and hundreds of shells and unexploded ordnance.
