Undersecretary of Yemen Information Ministry visits Project Masam

The Undersecretary at Yemen‘s Ministry of Information, Ahmed Rabee, has visited Project Masam’s headquarters in Marib Governorate on the occasion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s announcement to extend the project’s work for the sixth consecutive year.
Rabee, accompanied by a group of journalists and human rights activists, said that his visit to Project Masam, reflected an appreciation for the role played by Project Masam to save the lives of Yemenis from landmines.
He said: “We can say that Project Masam is defeating the Houthi’s targeting of Yemenis through landmines.”
Rabee thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for extending Project Masam’s contract, adding that the continuation of the project’s work is a necessity to save the lives of civilians.
Rabee added: “We were pleased with the decision of the President of the Leadership Council to award Project Masam the Medal of Courage, which indicates the leadership’s appreciation for the project.”
Last week, the President of the Yemeni Leadership Council Rashad al-Alimi announced the National Program for Mine Action and Project Masam would be awarded the Medal of Courage for their efforts to clear landmines across Yemen.
Rabee confirmed that the Information Ministry and all its affiliates stand with Project Masam as it continues to carry out its Mine Risk Education campaigns across Yemen liberated territory.
At the end of the visit, Rabee attended a photo exhibition, evidencing the different types of landmines currently found in Yemen, as well as he impact these have had on civilians.
The undersecretary of the Information Ministry was welcomed by Project Masam’s Director of Operations in Marib Retief Horn, as well as the project’s Director of Public Relations, Muhammad Al-Wales Bahibeh.
