In addition to its political, relief and military role, clearing mines is one of the most important efforts that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia make in confronting the terrorist Houthi project.
The Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen “Masam” announced on Thursday that it led an operation to detonate and destroy a number of mines planted by the pro-Iranian Houthi terrorist militia.
The program said in a statement that the destruction and detonation operation included 428 mines and unexploded ordnance in Kirsh of Lahij governorate.
The project of King Salman centre for landmines clearance “Masam”, showed this week, during the second Riyadh international Humanitarian Forum, its efforts in clearing mines and explosive devices that were planted by the pro-Iranian Houthi terrorist militia.
“Masam” presented a visual show to the visitors about its efforts in Yemen, and how to clear unexploded mines, which killed thousands of innocent women and children.
The project of King Salman Centre “Masam” aims to purify secure regions to allow the passage of humanitarian aid and to deliver medical aid to the victims of the terrorist Houthi militia’s aggressions.
“Masam” project purified since its launch in April 2018 an area of 8.578 million Km square, and cleared over 145 thousand anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, in addition to unexploded ordnance and explosive devices.
The project mission which works under the umbrella the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center doesn’t work on clearing and destroying mines only, it has special teams to collect the unexploded shells which the Houthis turned into explosive devices that are used mostly to destroy bridges and homes.
And in the western coast, “Masam” project works with 16 engineering teams distributed on the directorates of Dhabab, Al Makha, Bab Al Mandab, Ad Durayhimi, and also Muazza’a, Al Wazi’iya, Al Khokha, Hays and Yakhtal, in addition to Kirsh directorate in Lahij governorate, in order to elevate the suffering of civilians.
These much appreciated efforts aim to confront the escalating Houthi terrorism, as the militias since they ignited the war and took control of the military and security institutions in most of the regions, including the western coast that extends from Al Hudaydah governorate to Bab Al Mandab, which is the most important maritime strait in the world, they emptied the military barracks of their arsenal in all its kinds and took them to their barracks or stockpiled them in the mountains’ caves.
The mines and explosive devices in different shapes and sizes were the most dangerous items that the militias stole, in addition to the support they used to get from Iran before the liberation of large areas in the western coast through the port of Al Hudaydah; the most important port in Yemen, this opened the Houthis’ appetite to plant more weapons of death and destruction in the region.
And recently, the Houthi militias extended the plantation of mines that are described “the gardens of death” in Al Hudaydah governorate.
And according to sources, the Houthi militias brought bombs and explosives’ experts from Sa’dah governorate, and among them two foreigners who were seen in Zabid and Al Hussainia and Bayt Al Faqih onboard a non-armored civilian car.
The movements of these elements take place in the evening when it is dark, and they supervise the study of the places and regions where they can plant mines.
The engineering teams of the Houthi militia re-planted minefields and explosive devices especially in Salif and Ras Issa ports, City Max, Madinat Saleh and Kilo 16.
