The leader of team 5 Masam, Engineer Mousa Abdallah Al Harthi asserted that “Usaylan” directorate will be soon fully liberated from the terror of landmines that the Houthi militias planted extensively and randomly in all the vital areas linked to civilinas’ lives.
The leader of team 5 which works in “Usaylan” directorate in Shabwah province said in an exclusive interview with Masam’s media office that his team was able – since the start of its mission in project Masam – to clear 455 anti-armor landmines, 350 anti-personnel landmines, 250 explosive landmines in addition to thousands of ammunition and unexploded ordnance.
And about the nature of their work, the leader of team 5 Masam confirmed that the field which is being cleared now is field number 8 in “Al Safra” region, and that its total size is estimated at 68 thousand square meters, and the team was able until now to fully secure the field in less than a month. The team cleared there 25 anti-tank landmines, 5 explosive devices and hundreds of shells and unexploded ordnance.
The leader of team 5 indicated that the main difficulties that Masam’s clearing teams faced in Usaylan directorate were the sand dunes which are everywhere in the region for Usaylan directorate is a desert, and the moving sands buried the landmines deeply. He noted that project Masam’s management helped them to overcome all the challenges by providing the clearing teams with the high tech device “Large Loop”, which is one of the most advanced and accurate devices in detecting the landmines that are buried deep underground.
The leader of team 5 thanked the inhabitants of Usaylan for their cooperation with the clearing teams, noting that the civilians there respect project Masam and its teams and appreciate their work, and the they describe project Masam as a project of life for the land and men.
And in the end of the interview, Engineer Mousa Al Harthi praised the major role that project Masam plays to protect the lives of Yemenis and clear their lands from the deadly tools that the Houthis planted maliciously in the shape of landmines and explosive devices.
