At the time when the world ignored the Yemenis’ call for help to face the catastrophe of landmines and shut their eyes not to see the bloody massacres in Yemen, the Kingdom of kindness rushed to stand with the Yemeni brothers to alleviate their sufferings and heal their wounds and challenge the evil doers. Saudi Arabia became the shield that protects Yemenis from the evil of landmines, as the Kingdom promised this innocent people afflicted by the evils of the deadly traps that it will help them to get rid of this ordeal, and bring life back to normal in Yemen.
Project Masam was deployed in the Yemeni liberated lands as the arm of the generous Kingdom to make these wonderful humanitarian achievements in Yemen. Indeed, two years after its launch, the project achieved huge success in different parts of Yemen’s liberated regions, filling the hearts of Yemenis with joy and hope of a better future and making them grateful to the Kingdom of good and project Masam. This was expressed by Abdelkarim Al Ruways, the Chief of Al Ruways village as he said: “We thank project Masam for opening the path of our return to Al Ruways. We thank the project’s team which lifted the siege and enabled us to return to our village by opening and securing the roads which lead to our village and which were afflicted with landmines, after we have been displaced for 4 years. We returned thanks to Masam. Thank you Masam, and thank you O Kingdom of good and humanity”.
This feeling was also expressed by Amer Amaysan, the Managing Director of Medghal directorate. He said: “The Houthi militias planted landmines extensively, in villages and roads, and they harmed civilians, farms, and especially camels. The torrents came and drifted landmines and explosives to the farms, valleys and roads, then Masam’s teams rushed to help us to overcome this ordeal. They did a great job and cleared the deadly mines from different regions, that is why we thank them and appreciate what they did. I call upon Masam’s teams to continue their hard humanitarian work, especially with the frequent fall of rains that lead to making torrents, in order to protect civilians and especially women and children. The Kingdom of good is always a leader in generosity and benevolence, so we thank Saudi Arabia for its wonderful humanitarian work in Yemen”.
Abdallah Shaf’al, the leader of team 21 Masam, indicated also the perseverance of Masam and its race against time to save civilians. He said: “The region is populated, and it is a high impact area because it is infested with landmines. Our team, which is made of highly skilled experts work in this region and they will continue their hard work to clear it from the landmines. And thank God, no member of our team was harmed. Project Masam provided the working teams with the most advanced devices, making the team’s work more accurate and effective. We appreciate a lot and thank the Kingdom of good and Masam which led a great and honorable example in the field of humanitarian work”.
For his part, Abdelmalik Al Madhash, the member of Masam’s media team praised the role of the Kingdom in managing the landmines’ crisis in Yemen. He said: “At a time when the landmines were ravaging the Yemeni people, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent Masam to the Yemeni people as a savior and healer through clearing the lands from the landmines. The project worked and is still working in all liberated regions afflicted by landmines, and it made fantastic efforts in that regard. We thank the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for treating the wounds of Yemeni civilians through this humanitarian project which saved a lots of lives”.
The landmines are a catastrophe that devours Yemenis, after they were planted deliberately in their homes, farms, roads, schools and markets. The Kingdom of good was and still is our support in this ordeal. Thank you O Kingdom of good and thank you project Masam, for the generous support they provide to the clearing teams in Yemen.
