It is strange to explain the silence of the international community and international organizations towards the Houthis’ horrible crimes in Yemen. For many years, they have been raising their voices to condemn some incidents that are much less important than the Yemeni crisis, and at the same time, they have been ignoring what the Houthis have been doing to the poor Yemeni people.
What do these pro-Iranian militias want by escalating the situation, and putting Yemen on top of an active volcano by planting thousands of landmines everywhere?
With every explosion, the ordeal of Yemenis grow more and more. Civilians are leaving in a continuous nightmare. The common civilian’s heartbeat of fear is so loud that it can be heard from a distance. And in spite of that, the Houthi coup militias are still sticking to their position, ignoring totally what thousands of Yemenis are facing due to the bombings, sniping and most notably the landmines under the feet of innocents.
These hideous hands that are playing with the security and safety of civilians are trying to bring the country back to square one. They continue sowing the seeds of grudge to punish the civilians who are against their rule, and to achieve a fictitious victory to satisfy their pride and thirst for blood and destruction. The Houthi landmines killed hundreds of Yemenis in different regions of the country and deprived many of their sources of living.
Millions of Yemenis live in a constant fear of any step they may make. This implies on the kids when they play and every farmer or worker or fishermen when they go to their daily jobs, either in sea of land, to provide for their families.
Yemenis are killed or wounded in the middle of the huge networks of landmines that the Houthis planted. There are many reports that document the thousands of people who were either killed or permanently handicapped because of the landmines. But still, there are many unknown cases that have not been documented.
Within the operation to restore hope and protect civilians, Masam’s clearing teams started working on clearing Ad Dali province from the thorns that bled their inhabitants.
And in response to the SOS call of Ad Dali’s inhabitants, Masam’s teams moved to protect them and prevent the fall of additional victims to these treacherous landmines.
The Houthi landmines don’t miss a chance to prey on civilians, especially after they were drifted by the rain torrents and distributed away from their original places.
Colonel Muthanna Ubaisi stressed that the two teams which will work on clearing the landmines will continue their mission until the region becomes fully free of various kinds of landmines, in order to facilitate the safe return of civilians to their normal lives.
In the same context, project Masam was able during the 3rd week of August to clear 1257 landmines, unexploded ordnance and IEDs, which brings the total of what the project cleared between its launch and the 21st of August to 180955. A number which revives hopes that the future will be brighter as long as there are people who work to bring civilians back to their lands which were poisoned by the wicked Houthis.
Yemen is the most affected country by landmines in the world because of these criminal militias that want to destroy it. These militias which are implementing plans that shattered the Yemenis’ dreams of building their country based on values that will allow them to live in security and dignity.
