Years ago, nobody thought that the situation will be as it is today in Yemen. The transgressions of the Houthis aimed to weaken and destroy Yemen, and to offer the Yemenis’ necks on a plate of treason and viciousness to the militias’ backers and allies.
The Houthis hunted Yemenis with their evil weapons. They shuttered their hopes and covered their bodies with mud and dust. They sold Yemen cheaply, not knowing that one day, they will beg to return to the Yemeni society, and that Yemen is their only home, refuge and safe haven, where they live and where they will be buried.
But their return will not happen, because the land of Yemen will curse them forever for what they did to it. They ruined and polluted it with different kinds of explosives, and watered it with the Yemenis’ blood.
The coup militias hunt Yemenis with this deadly epidemic of landmines and explosive devices. They enjoy watching the bodies of Yemenis torn apart.
The Houthis lost human feelings, as they became ghouls and monsters who don’t care much about the destruction they inflicted on Yemen. They are criminals and henchmen who want to be remembered in history in the league of the Nazis.
And as the world makes a remarkable progress in getting rid of the remnants of landmines, Yemen sink in infinite fields that are overplanted with landmines to target civilians.
The worst manifestation of this balatant coup that enters its seventh year is the unprecedented use of landmines in various places and without maps, which makes them very difficult to clear in the near future.
The Human Rights Information and Training Centre – a regional organization that holds a consultative status with the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council – indicated that there are 8 thousand landmines’ victims, mostly women and children, in addition to tens of thousands who lost their limbs, reiterating that the regions most affected by the landmine epidemic are Al Hudaydah and Taiz. This doesn’t mean that the danger is less in other regions, because the clearing teams couldn’t reach them to know the extent of catastrophe there.
According to the reports, about 55 workers in mine clearance programs were killed, and another 50 were injured until the end of last year.
Masam had a big share in that, as 21 of its staff were martyred while fulfilling their duties that supported the success achieved by Masam in combatting landmines.
This number shows the huge sacrifices that project Masam’s staff made to save the Yemeni people from the death buried underground.
The martyrs of the humanitarian mission wrote their names in the book of sacrifice and selflessness for the sake of security and peace, while the Houthis painted Yemeni lands with blood.
These human losses couldn’t stop project Masam from continuing its mission, as its teams were able to clear 177637 landmines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices. The teams also cleared 12.694.128 square meters of Yemeni lands since the launch of the project until the 31st of July.
Yemen needs desperately security and peace, but this won’t be possible without getting rid of the Houthis who care only about their personal interests, and for that, they follow all possible paths even the devil’s footsteps.
