Leader of Team 6, Masam, Engineer Nasser Awad, confirmed that his team had managed, since starting work in Project Masam, to secure 15 fields and mined areas with a total area of 150,000 square meters in several Directorates of Shabwah Governorate.
Engineer Nasser said in a special statement to Masam Media Office that his team was also able to clear more than 2000 anti-armor land mines and 300 individual mines, Type “POMZ”, in addition to 1500 various shells from the fields and areas that Team 6, worked to secure.
Regarding the current nature of his team’s work, Leader of Team 6, indicated that his team is now working in Marra area of Ataq Directorate, which is contaminated with mines and missiles that poses a threat to civilians lives and their animals.
Nasser Awad indicated that, during the work period in Project Masam, his team was able to secure many vital areas, including residential and agricultural, in Asilan and Bayhan Directorates, indicating that the efforts made by his team resulted in enabling hundreds of families to return to their homes and farms safely.
Awad noted that, mines threat is continual to citizens lives in Shabwah Governorate, and it requires more effort and time to clear it and deport civilians from the tragic consequences of mines.
Awad added that his team will continue the humanitarian mission with high spirits, despite the difficulties facing the deminers, which are represented in random cultivation of mines in deserts, valleys and mountains of Shabwah Governorate.
