Project Masam Team 15 today has located and dismantled five large-sized improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Usaylan district, in south Yemen’s resource-rich governorate of Shabwah.

The team initially received a report from a local civilian, who believed to have spotted suspected IEDs in the Shmeisan area of Usaylan district.

The demining team immediately moved to the site and carried out a survey and clearance of the area, where it found five IEDs connected to an electric circuit and ready for remote detonation.

The team was able to successfully dismantle the explosives and secure the area against further danger, without causing any injuries or damage.

The leader of Team 15 praised the civilians’ efforts to report any explosive devices or other dangerous objects, stressing that the team will continue its efforts to remove landmines and IEDs and maintain public security and safety.
