Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 4,413 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in August 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,047 landmines and UXO last week, including four anti-personnel landmines, 54 anti-tank mines, 973 UXO and 16 IEDs, bringing the total number of explosive items removed in August to 4,413.
Between 24 and 30 August, demining teams removed 4,018 UXO and 326 landmines.
The project’s demining teams cleared 224,865 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 59,201,344 square metres of Yemeni land.
