Project Masam clears 4,094 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 4,094 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in January 2025.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 732 landmines and UXO last week, including 11 anti-personnel mines, 31 anti-tank mines, 685 UXO, and five IEDs during the period.

This brings the total number of items removed between 1 January and 31 January to 4,094.

The project’s demining teams cleared 280,545 square metres of Yemeni land last week; clearing a total of 1,312,966 square metres so far in January.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 64,691,637 square metres of Yemeni land.
