Project Masam clears 3,758 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 3,758 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in October 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 720 landmines and UXO last week, including 29 anti-personnel landmine, 21 anti-tank mines, and 670 UXO during the period. This brings the total number of items removed between 1 October and 25 October to 3,758.
The project teams removed 38 anti-personnel landmines, 224 anti-tank mines, 3,487 UXO and nine IEDs during the same period.

The project’s demining teams cleared 265,915 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 963,889.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 61,232,240 square metres of Yemeni land.
