Project Masam clears 3,366 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 3,366 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in August 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 837 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, 59 anti-tank mines, 771 UXO and five IEDs, bringing the total number of explosive items removed in August to 3,366.

Between 1 and 23 August, demining teams removed 3,045 UXO and 268 landmines.

The project’s demining teams cleared 162,768 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 58,976,479 square metres of Yemeni land.
