Project Masam clears 3,240 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 3,240 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in September 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 2,474 landmines and UXO last week, including six anti-personnel landmines, 28 anti-tank mines, 2,439 UXO and one IED during the period.

The project’s demining teams cleared 277,466 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 540,282.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 59,741,626 square metres of Yemeni land.
