Project Masam clears 2,756 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,756 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in April 2024.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 719 landmines, UXO, and IEDs last week, including two anti-personnel mines, 83 anti-tank mines, 631 UXO, and three IEDs, bringing the total of items cleared in April to 2,756.

The project’s demining teams cleared 244,365 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared last month to 585,865 square metres, according to the statement.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 55,976,747 square meters of Yemeni land.
