Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,529 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in August 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 1,139 landmines and UXO last week, including 13 anti-personnel landmines, 56 anti-tank mines, 1,056 UXO and 13 IEDs, bringing the total number of explosive items removed in August to 2,529.
Between 1 and 18 August, demining teams removed 2,274 UXO and 207 landmines.
The project’s demining teams cleared 158,844 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 58,813,711 square metres of Yemeni land.
