Project Masam clears 2,522 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 2,522 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in January 2025.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 732 landmines and UXO last week, including eight anti-personnel landmines, 51 anti-tank mines, 672 UXO, and one IED during the period.

This brings the total number of items removed between 1 January and 17 January to 2,522.

The project’s demining teams cleared 221,577 square metres of Yemeni land last week; clearing a total of 759,865 square metres so far in January.

Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 64,138,536 square metres of Yemeni land.
