Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 2,349 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in November 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 840 landmines and UXO last week, including 29 anti-personnel landmines, 129 anti-tank mines, and 862 UXO during the period.
This brings the total number of items removed between 1 November and 22 November to 2,349.
According to the statement, the demining teams removed 34 anti-personnel mines, 191 anti-tank mines, 2,121 UXO and three IEDs in November.
The project’s demining teams cleared 249,614 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 664,002.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 62,112,356 square metres of Yemeni land.
