Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 2,224 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in December 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 570 landmines and UXO last week, including two anti-personnel landmines, 50 anti-tank mines, 508 UXO, and 10 IEDs during the period.
This brings the total number of items removed between 1 December and 20 November to 2,224.
According to the statement, the demining teams removed nine anti-personnel mines, 154 anti-tank mines, 2,042 UXO and 19 IEDs in December.
The project’s demining teams cleared 268,664 square metres of Yemeni land last week.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 63,077,026 square metres of Yemeni land.
