Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 2,209 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in October 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 630 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, 28 anti-tank mines, 598 UXO and one IED during the period. This brings the total number of items removed between 1 October and 11 October to 2,209.
The project teams removed eight anti-personnel landmines, 154 anti-tank mines, 2,040 and one IED during the same period.
The project’s demining teams cleared 272,789 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 513,364.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 60,781,715 square metres of Yemeni land.
