Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 1,790 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in January 2025.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 639 landmines and UXO last week, including eight anti-personnel landmines, 45 anti-tank mines, 585 UXO, and one IED during the period.
This brings the total number of items removed between 1 January and 10 January to 1,790.
According to the statement, the demining teams removed eight anti-personnel mines, 77 anti-tank mines, 1,700 UXO and five IEDs in December.
The project’s demining teams cleared 238,846 square metres of Yemeni land last week.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 63,916,959 square metres of Yemeni land.
