Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 1,654 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in December 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 846 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, 39 anti-tank mines, 803 UXO, and one IED during the period.
This brings the total number of items removed between 1 December and 13 November to 1,654.
According to the statement, the demining teams removed seven anti-personnel mines, 104 anti-tank mines, 1,534 UXO and nine IEDs in December.
The project’s demining teams cleared 214,757 square metres of Yemeni land last week.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 62,808,362 square metres of Yemeni land.
