Project Masam clears 1,606 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices

Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 1,606 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in March 2025.

While many Project Masam teams were on annual leave during Ramadan, reserve and emergency teams continued operations.

Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 548 landmines and UXO last week, including five anti-personnel mines, 25 anti-tank mines, 515 UXO, and three IEDs during the period.
This brings the total number of items removed between 1 March and 14 March to 1,606.
The project’s demining teams cleared 233,742 square metres of Yemeni land last week; clearing a total of 971,080 square metres so far in March.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 65,662,717 square metres of Yemeni land.
