Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have cleared 1,509 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in November 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams cleared 614 landmines and UXO last week, including three anti-personnel landmines, 36 anti-tank mines, 574 UXO and one IED during the period.
This brings the total number of items removed between 1 November and 15 November to 1,509.
The project teams removed five anti-personnel landmines, 62 anti-tank mines, 1,439 and three IEDs during the same period.
The project’s demining teams cleared 190,265 square metres of Yemeni land last week, according to the statement, bringing the total cleared so far this month to 414,388.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 61,862,742 square metres of Yemeni land.
