Project Masam for Mine Clearance in Yemen carried out an operation to destroy 1144 landmines, explosive devices and unexploded ordnance in Bab Al Mandab directorate in the western coast.
In an exclusive statement made to Masam’s media office, the project’s Managing Director Mr. Ousama Algosaibi asserted that the demolition operation, carried out today by the team specialized in shells’ collection, is the 30th of its kind, which brings the total of demolition operations carried out by Masam in Yemen to 81 operations of destruction and detonation of thousands of thousands of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
The destruction operation included 226 anti-tank landmines, 309 unexploded shells, 272 fuses, 333 unexploded ordnance and 4 mined rockets.
Project Masam works on destroying different kinds of landmines and explosives that were cleared by the clearing teams, in compliance with an unchanged commitment made by the project to guarantee that they will never be used again in the future.
In the same context, and after the destruction operation, Major General Qaid Haytham, the Director of the Mines Action Center – Aden praised the great achievement made by project Masam in order to protect Yemenis from the danger of landmines.
Major General Qaid Haytham congratulated the leadership, government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of the Kingdom’s national day, praising its efforts and great role in supporting Yemen and its people.
