The leader of Project Masam’s Team 25, Engineer Aymen Saleh has said that qualifying national personnel capable of combating landmines in the future and organising training courses to qualify and upskill those personnel are among the most important achievements made by Project Masam in Yemen, which will ensure a safe life for Yemenis in the long run and protect the country against the danger of mines.
Saleh said that the humanitarian landmine clearance project has helped to bring life back to normal and revived hope in several Yemeni districts, which were deserted out of the fear of the danger of landmines.
Once again houses and villages have been re-inhabited, lands restored, fields fertile, and schools are frequented by students.
The demining engineer affirmed that Yemeni civilians have suffered a lot from landmines at the social, health, and economic levels; this is why Project Masam is determined to continue its activities until full clearance of the Yemeni lands.
Saleh pointed out that the spread of awareness among civilians about the dangers of landmines and the continuous endeavour to demine their districts and villages are the reason why the Yemenis embrace this project and welcome any team present across Yemen.
Masam’s demining teams have developed strong humanitarian relationships with the Yemeni people – a connection which encourages them to immediately report any suspicious object or any landmine explosion to Masam.
