Project Masam has successfully removed and destroyed 622 landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and various unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Yemen’s Murrah area of Ataq district in Shabwah.

The Technical Survey Team leader Engineer Hussein Alaqili, confirmed the destruction and detonation of 622 mines and UXO, which included 600 UXO, 20 anti-tank mines, and two naval mines – also known as sea mines.

Al-Aqili explained that every unexploded ordnance is considered an explosive landmine that threatens the lives of the population and must be disposed of.

The clearance operation, carried out by Masam’s teams in the southern region of Shabwah, is the 175th  operation since the start of the project in Yemen in mid-2018.
