Masam destroys 271 landmines in Ad Dali’ Governorate

Project Masam has destroyed 271 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and explosive devices (IEDs) in the Qa’atabah District in Ad Dali’ Governorate.
Engineer Ahmed al-Radfani, the leader of Masam’s demining Team 18, said that the destruction process carried out by Masam in Ad Dali’ included 115 anti-personnel landmines, 40 explosive devices, one anti-tank landmine, 10 unexploded ordnance, and 105 miscellaneous fuses.
Al-Radfani pointed out that the entirety of explosives that were destroyed was removed from the districts of Qa’atabah, Qaflat, Shakhab, Al-Raibi, and Bayt al-Hadrami over the past period.
Al-Radfani added that all the landmines which were detonated on January 23 were removed from residential areas, and main and subsidiary roads affirming that civilians were able to return safely to their homes in several Yemeni villages.
The leader of Team 18 indicated that the team will work during the coming period on clearing farms and grazing areas putting into consideration that agriculture and grazing are the main sources of living for most of the civilians in Yemen.
