Masam destroys 1,392 landmines in Bab al-Mandab

Project Masam has successfully removed and destroyed 1,392 landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and various unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate.

The destruction operation, in Bab al-Mandeb district, included 483 anti-tank mines,  46 UXO, 483 assorted fuses, 12 anti-personnel mines, five IEDs, and 368 assorted bullets. 

Engineer Adeeb Rajab, Deputy Commander of the Special Task Team in the Aden and West Coast Sector, said all the remnants of war destroyed by the Special Task Team were discovered in the districts of Hays, Mocha, Al-Khokha, and Al-Wazea over the past weeks.

Rajab added that MASAM’s engineering teams in the Aden and West Coast Sector work on a daily basis to protect civilians and their livelihoods from landmines and other explosive threats,
