Project Masam has destroyed hundreds of anti-tank mines in the west of Yemen’s Shabwah province.

Leader of Team 14, Engineer Muhammad Qamata, confirmed that the engineering teams removed 462 landmines in the past weeks from the districts of Behan, Usaylan and Ain in Shabwah province and Hareb district, south of Marib province.

Qamata explained that Masam’s teams successfully cleared these mines from farms, schools, and at the entrances of public roads.

The team leader also said that the Houthi militia planted anti-tank mines and turned sone of them into anti-personnel mines by adding pressure plates to them.

This comes after Project Masam successfully removed and destroyed 1,392 landmines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and various unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Yemen’s Taiz Governorate.
