Masam destroys 1,157 landmines and explosive devices in Yemen’s Western Coast

Project Masam has destroyed 1,157 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and explosive devices (IEDs) in Yemen’s West Coast.
Deputy leader of Masam Special Task Team on the Western Coast, Engineer Adib Rajab said that his team destroyed 312 anti-tank mines, 480 UXO, 332 various fuses, 20 anti-personnel mines, and 13 improvised explosive devices.
Rajab pointed out that these landmines, explosives, and other devices were removed from the agricultural lands and coasts in the governorates of Taiz and Al-Hodeidah during the past weeks.
The engineer pointed out that agriculture and fishing are an essential source of livelihood for most of the residents of the Western Coast districts, thus farms and fisherman’s ports are one of Project Masam’s priorities.
Project Masam’s teams succeeded in restoring life to many coasts and fishermen’s ports along the Western Coast, Rajad added, securing many agricultural lands, and enabling farmers to access their lands and to safely cultivate them.
