Masam demolishes 1,185 landmines, unexploded ordnance and explosive devices in Yemen’s West Coast

On the occasion of the International Mine Awareness Day, Project Masam has destroyed 1,185 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Bab al-Mandab province in Yemen’s Taiz governorate.
The detonation operation, which was carried out by Masam specialised teams, included 316 anti-tank mines, 321 UXO, 491 varied fuses, 39 anti-personnel mines, and 18 IEDs.
In a statement, the deputy leader of Masam’s Special Missions team said that the destruction operation carried out today (4 April) by Masam teams working in the West Coast provinces coincided with the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, pointed out that these landmines, explosives, and other devices were removed from the West Coast during the past weeks.
